Incorporating History into a Wedding

So, you may have noticed I recently began posting on Mary's Modern Mishaps again after quite a long hiatus. The fall had been quite chaotic to say the least. I started graduate school at Rutgers-Newark, moved, got married, finished moving, survived Superstorm Sandy, our first holidays as a married couple, then January is birthday month in my family, and we had an engagement to celebrate. Okay, maybe life is always chaotic.

Now that things are starting to wind down on a personal level, I've been working at pushing Mary's Historical Programs and have recently created a new Colonial Era show. In the next few days, I will be working on a Valentine's Day promotion and then Women's History Month. I'm also thrilled to have been booked on a monthly basis and will be creating a Wild West Fashion Program for this facility ready by this summer.

All that said, I've been dying to post some pictures of the wedding for two reasons. One, yeah, we had a lot of history "stuff" incorporated into our wedding and, two, when I was planning the wedding, I had the hardest time coming up for subtle ways to include aspects of Greg's and my relationship and what was important to us as a couple. Hopefully, this post will give some other couple's do-able ideas (on a budget). Also, also, as a small business owner, I am going to plug my wonderful vendors. :)

Disney/History?!?! Yes, please!

If history were off the table and I had to tell you one of my greatest loves in life, Disney would be pretty high up on the list. Imagine my delight when I came across this. Claire Hummel has recreated the Disney Princesses in historically accurate clothing. I was so excited, I'm posting this literally five minutes after I found it! Check it out!

My 25 Favorite Historical Figures

In honor of my 25th birthday, I present:

My 25 Favorite Historical Figures
(In No Particular Order)

1. Teddy Roosevelt (okay, he's in order)
You know him for: Generally being the most bad-ass president/american/man ever. Also, for speaking softly and carrying a big stick.

2. Queen Victoria
You know her for: Ruling England for a reeeaaaalllly long time. Sexy undwear.
